Utah Road Trip - April 15, 2024, Monday
Zion Canyon National Park
Since we were all together and the weather looked like it was going to be a chilly and rainy morning, we took our time getting up and moving. Cathy made us some wonderful egg and bagel sandwiches for breakfast. Thank you Cathy.
Then we were off to Zion!
Zion National Park was established on November 19,1919. But humans have been visiting the canyon for over 8,000 years.
We had a good time at the visitor center and rode the tram all the way to the end of the canyon. From there, we hiked to the entrance to The Narrows.
Unfortunately because of the rain, the water flow had increased and The Narrows were closed.
From there, we broke up into smaller groups and took our time visiting sites that interested us.
The weather finally broke and the beautiful blue sky brightened our day even more.
On the way out, we stopped and had a great lunch at the restaurant just outside Zion NP.
By 5 pm, we had all returned to our camp and shared stories of our adventures with each other.
Our campground neighbors, who are Native Americans, were kind enough to share some of their dried sage with us. They say it’s for cleansing and healing of the body and soul. It was really neat that they used a shell as a burning tray for the sage.
They are doing a similar trip to ours and we might see them again.
