Summer 2025 Road Trip

Looks like we’re all set and ready to go!
On March 1, 1972 the Buffalo National River was the first national river to be designated in the United States. President Richard Nixon signed the law to put the Buffalo River under the protection of the National Park Service 100 years after the establishment of Yellowstone National Park. Which was signed into law by Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872.
The Buffalo River is 153 miles long and originates in the Boston Mountains in the Ozarks. Then it flows across the Springfield and Salmon Plateau and finally joins the White River.
The section that we are paddling today is class I and class II water. That means that you can float most of the time but in the rapids you're going to need to do some paddling or your going to get wet.
Today we paddled 15.5 river miles in just under 6 hours. Time just flew by and we enjoyed ourselves and the river immensely. I can’t wait to paddle another section. Hopefully we’ll have the time to do a multi day trip.
Tonight I’m back at Tyler Bend campground. Unfortunately Brian had some family issues come up and had to go home. On the plus side the campgrounds have showers!
